Southern African Tiger Fishing

Ichingo River Lodge - Safari Boats - Zambezi & Chobe River

ICHINGO RIVER LODGE - NAMIBIA

Settled beneath majestic riverine trees, this secluded hideaway promises guests a private and secluded destination where every need is met and every daydream indulged.

From the moment that you first see Ichingo River Lodge you will be struck by the peace and serenity of the area that invites you to simply relax and enjoy the feeling that being based on the river imparts.

The Lodge has recently undergone a refurbishment that now allows us to boast nine beautifully decorated Meru safari tents. Each tent imparts its own sense of luxury and all of them have their own private balcony overlooking the Chobe River as well as comfortable en-suite bathrooms. Each tent is positioned to ensure maximum privacy.

Being on the river allows you to get closer to the large variety of game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, kudu, waterbuck and the shy Chobe bushbuck. Large troops of baboons are also on hand to provide plenty of entertainment with their riverside antics. Within the river itself, there are numerous hippos and crocodiles to add to the unending display of profuse wildlife that this region offers.

Fishing: Ichingo is first and foremost a fishing lodge. It has excellent fishing facilities and tackle. The main attraction are the Tiger fish, for which this area is undoubtedly the premier Tiger fishing water in Africa.

The Tiger fish is one of the most demanding freshwater fighting fishes in Africa. At Ichingo you fish in the fast flowing waters of the Chobe and Zambezi, which make the fish particularly active and more ferocious than those found in the calmer waters of Lake Kariba for example. Fishing is by drift baiting and trawling, with fly fishing during August, September and October and spinning when the water levels are low and the tigers are confined to the main river.

MOLI SAFARI BOAT

There is a way to experience the splendour of two very special rivers that is unsurpassed and unforgettable. The Moli has made the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers her very own piece of paradise and guests aboard her are privy  to a very unique African travelling experience that promises ultimate luxury and unequalled natural beauty.

18 metres long, The Moli offers space, comfort and first-class service. She also delivers a constantly changing panorama that will keep you captivated and enthralled by the sights and wonders of this special corner of Africa.

Four large twin cabins – All beautifully decorated with the focal feature being the large sliding window that allows you your own personal view of the changing landscapes before you. All of these windows are fitted with protective screens to ensure maximum relaxation and each room has ample storage space. The cabins also have an en-suite bathroom, each tastefully fitted with a modern shower, toilet and hand basin.

Entertainment deck – This deck provides you with access to a spacious lounge and bar area that encourages you to take time-out and simply enjoy the view. This deck also has a relaxed open-air dining area where guests can enjoy superb meals prepared by a skilful chef in the full-size onboard kitchen.

Plunge pool – At the front of the entertainment deck, guests can cool off or simply soak up the African sun on deck chairs while enjoying an ice-cold beverage and the outstanding scenery.

Dedicated tender boats – The rear of the entertainment deck allows easy access to the smaller tender boats – twelve foot, forty horsepower vessels that accompany the  Moli on all of her travels. These boats ensure that each guest has the freedom to partake in any excursions or activities that are best suited to their own personal needs.

MUKWAE SAFARI BOAT

Launched in July 2007, The Mukwae offers her own singular personality to the waters of the Chobe River. Built to almost the same specifications as The Moli, The Mukwae also offer every comfort and encourages guests to luxuriate under the African sun while observing these waterways from a vantage point that is unparalleled by any other lodge in the area.

In order to add to this experience, our professional crew are always on hand to expertly navigate the rivers, share their specialist knowledge of the area and to ensure a stay on board that will remain with you long after you have returned home.

The Mukwae, while very similar to her sister safariboat, also has the following facilities in order to give her own unique identity:

Four large twin cabins – Meticulously appointed, each cabin has its own large sliding window that allows you to constantly view the changing landscapes, but in addition to this, the front cabin also has its own private balcony. All of the cabins have plenty of cupboard space and the en-suite bathrooms are all fitted with a modern shower, toilet and hand basin.

Entertainment deck – This main deck has all of the facilities to ensure that you have never-ending access to the views the rivers provide from the bar and lounge to the open-air dining area. However The Mukwae also has a third sun deck above the main deck that will allow even greater leverage to enjoy the sights and sounds of this unique wetland destination.

Plunge pool – The pool is situated at the front of the main deck and provides a welcome relief from the midday sun. There are also plenty of deck chairs or sun lounges for those that simply want to enjoy the African heat and take time-out from any of the activities on offer.
